Description

Arizona is the 48th and last state in the contiguous United States to be admitted to the Union. Significant economic drivers include what are referred to as the Five C’s and consist of Cattle, Citrus, Climate, Copper, and Cotton of which three are commodities under the authorities of the Arizona Department of Agriculture.


The Western States Livestock Health Association (WSLHA) was formed as a non-profit with a Board of Directors composed of the State Animal Health Officials of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming as well as representation from board-approved national associations. The purpose of this association is to provide a forum for the discussion and handling of animal health problems peculiar to the western states to include regulatory control of animal health, the interstate movement of livestock and poultry, the inspection of meat, poultry and dairy products, and coordination with national disease control and eradication programs.


We hope to see you this summer to discuss issues impacting livestock sectors and One Health.
